Clematis Tangutica (Clematis tangutica), commonly known as Golden Clematis or Lemon Peel Clematis, is a spectacularly free-flowering species clematis celebrated for its charming and prolific display of small, nodding, lantern-shaped flowers in bright, clear golden-yellow from midsummer right through to fall — a warm, cheerful color that brings a unique and sunny vitality to garden structures at a season when yellow flowering climbers are rare and particularly welcome. Each small, urn-shaped flower features four thick, slightly waxy, lemon-yellow petals that recurve at the tips to reveal contrasting creamy white interiors and silky stamens — earning this variety its evocative common name of Lemon Peel Clematis for the thick, textured quality of its distinctive petals. As the golden flowers fade, they give way to one of the most ornamental and long-lasting seed head displays of any clematis — large, fluffy, silvery seed heads that persist on the vine from fall well into winter, providing months of additional ornamental interest long after the blooms have finished. Vigorous, hardy, and remarkably easy to grow, Clematis Tangutica is an outstanding and distinctive addition to any garden. Plants arrive in 2 inch starter pots, well-rooted and ready to establish in your garden.
